It’s hard to believe that this corporate looking commercial building houses one of the most popular nightclubs in Macau. During the day it is a hive of activity with business executives marching in and out and talking business at the Starbucks on the ground floor. But after the suits have gone home, they are replaced by a totally different crowd. D2 is a hidden secret usually known to only regular clubbers, due to its obscure location in the AIA Tower, opposite the Grand Emperor Casino, in downtown Macau. To get there; take the lift on the right, behind Starbucks up to the 2nd floor and follow the pumping sounds. Although the club is usually packed during the weekends, there is rarely a queue and no cover charge, except for special events, when it costs MOP100. A good mixture of expatriates and locals frequent this late-night club which gets busy around midnight and doesn’t stop until the sun comes up. The 2-storey nightclub has a dance floor on the first floor and the second floor has booth seats and a balcony overlooking the dance floor. During the weekends, sexy female dancers take to the bar counter and make their way across the dance floor to hand out free alcoholic shots to lucky people on the dance floor. The vibe is more fun than sleazy. Serious looking bouncers patrol the club and are stationed at the dance floor to make sure nobody gets carried away. The crowd is usually here to party and be seen, making it suitable for an all girls’ night out. There is a good selection of cocktails and bottles available at reasonable prices.
